HOUSE REFURBISHMENT

Abbotsford Road, North Berwick

This project involved the complete renovation of a previously converted steading. The original conversion, carried out in the 1960's had maintained the original roof structure of the building, limiting the usable space at first floor level.

In this re-modelling, the roof structure has been radically altered from within, to lower the floor level and create a spacious upper storey.

A new timber decked roof terrace has been formed on top of the existing flat roofed extension, accessed from the principal bedroom and protected by a Siberian Larch-clad parapet, taking best advantage of sunshine from the South and the spectacular views over the Firth of Forth to the North.

Spatial organisation of the house is simple, with bedrooms, bathrooms and formal living rooms arranged around the central open plan family living and circulation space.
